Ning newbie

Wow - this is the coolest thing! We have such an issue with MySpace - maybe this could be a safe alternative?

  • Mary, I use Google Documents and Spreadsheets for brainstorming with colleagues, saving information for projects, even to compile a spreadsheet to help my daughter, Ellen, plan her wedding. I'll invite you to view one of my documents so you can see how I use it.
  • Diane, you are right - the possibilities are endless! It gets a little overwhelming at times, but I too am posting pictures on Flickr, saving sites to Del.icio.us, reading blogs through Bloglines, etc. One thing I haven't done, though is use Google Documents. I'm looking for an opportunity to try this out!
  • Mary, Most social network sites are blocked at our K - 12 school. I can access TeacherLibrarian without a problem. This is important to me, as I explore and educate myself about the endless possibilities of 21st century information fluency. I love Google Documents and Google Reader;
    I 've taken an online course and stayed on to become a facilitator-in-training; I tag and save sites...basic stuff to many people, but a revelation and a joy to me. Guess I'm working towards constructing Diane2.0!
  • That is so cool! I can tell I have a lot more exploring to do!
  • Mary,

    You can also create private Ning networks, so if you wanted to work with a group of teachers on your campus, you could set up your own and invite them in.
  • I agree Mary, this is so much better than MySpace!
