Any Takers?

Anyone interested in participating in a place-based storytellingproject I am creating? This will be a research project for a fourthgrade class studying Native Americans. My class will be focusing on NewYork State tribes; I am looking for other classes from the originalcolonies area. The project will incorporate:
  • research about the tribes
  • podcasting
  • locating and placing each tribe on an interactive Google map, with links back to podcasts and perhaps a wiki
  • writing original Native American legend/tale/myth
  • sharing information with participating classes

Students will work in groups. All information and teacher instructions will be included.

The project will be up and running by mid-September and will be posted on MidLink Magazine .

  • Great, Rosanne! I look forward to working with you!
  • Karen...I'll check the link around Labor Day. I'd have to talk this up with the 4th grade Social Studies teacher, and of course, the administration. We have a faculty in-service during the last week of August, so I won't be able to sell this before then.
  • Rosanne,
No, that is not a problem and yes there will be specific topics, instructions, and more. I have not published the unit yet, I am still working on it and it should be published on the net by Labor Day.
  • Our 4th grade also researches Pa tribes but usually the research doesn't begin until January. If the project begins in September, would this be a problem? How is the research structured? Are there specific topics to be researched? Is the original myth a group activity? This sounds like a fresh approach to a standard research assignment. Can you elaborate more on what is required?
