  • Greetings Karen,

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit.

We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight. If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!

    Sincerely,

    Mike McQueen

  • Karen, The wedding on Sunday was fabulous! A bit more elaborate than an upstate reception, but lovely nonetheless.
  • THANKS, Karen, for your book! It came yesterday and I've read it through about three times already...both so important and entertaining.
  • Karen, retirement is when things get really interesting! You can do the fun stuff and forget about the commute.

  • Thanks for the invitation Karen. When I taught elementary school I had a program to bring authors to the library. How wonderful for you school that their is always an author in your library!

  • Hi, Karen--I sure would like a copy of your book! I am deep into AASL appointments (want one? even a virtual one?) and my favorite food is cookies...not a good combination, I'm afraid...I worry a lot about childhood obesity. Both of my parents had diabetes with final illnesses and it complicated treatment so much...Thanks for the offer! Sara J
  • OK
  • Thanks! For some reason my computer won't let me accept friends, so am sending you an invite.
  • Hi Karen, I am a high school librarian from the Denver metro area. Congrats on your book! How exciting. I just started working on a YA novel, I am not a writer but had an idea and maybe something will come of it. It will be one of my summer projects. Any advice?
