  • Greetings Diane,

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight.

If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!

    Sincerely,

    Mike McQueen

  • Hi Diane, I understand the challemges of being a K - 12 librarian very well. I was the K - 12 librarian at Kingston School for five years. Now I am at Berryville Middle School with 4 - 8th grades. Yes, that is an unusaul age. You either love them or hate them. Seems to be no good in between. And luckily those you dislike can change on a dime and the next time you see them you wonderwhy you didn't like them before and of course goes the same way with the ones you like. They either walk in the library doors as little angels or little devils and usually does not take but 1/2 second to figure out which one. But I enjoy them most of the time.
  • Glad you liked visiting The Vineyard...we were at a wedding in Cancun Mexico that weekend and enjoyed it too...K
  • Hi, Diane--I live n Saranac Lake, my husband is from South Glens Falls and his father was in The Orchards near Fort Ann until he died so I am VERY familiar with where you live. Frank's cousins, Dan and Monelle Cottrells and Pete Crotty, teach at Queensbury HS! Nice to know there is a Ning friend close by! Only 1.5 hours away!
