I am working as Technical Research and Library Officer at The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, previously I worked as Librarian in a High School of Big Private School System, Mr. Noorudding Merchant was our Team Leader and I have learnt a lot from him, because he initiated new things for librarians with a broader perspective rather than traditional librarianship. This Philosophy was all about the active, pro active, life long learning librarianship as a teacher librarian instead the passive role of libraries and librarians as warehouses and care takers. it brought a big change in thinking about a librarian as a leading person. But there should be more people in this profession who believe in change, and want to see libraries as learning hubs, and to do so, librarians should be more responsible and pro active. we have to work hard in this field to Revisioning the role of libraries and librarians in this ever fast changing Knowledge society.

    Greetings Ahmad,

    I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight.

    I;m so sorry you misunderstood me. I love my profession as a librarian and teacher. What I meant, is that "the apple doesn;t fall far from the tree." Librarinaship is in my blood, as if it chose me. That is what I meant. :-)
