  • Greetings Jack,

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight. If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!

  • Hi Jack,
Sorry about the delay, but yest this book list would certainly be of interest.
  • Thanks! I work with younger students, but I have teenagers who will try to participate and spread the word! S
  • Thanks, Jack. I am familiar with the contest via various blogs and have shared it with my teachers. We are an elementary school and although I don't think you will get many (any) entries from us we do use it as a great learning source.

  • Thanks, Jack. I loved both your websites. I think Brainypics would also be great for using with younger students for teaching vocabulary.
  • thanks i am just getting the hang of this stuff so it may be awhile before i become proficient...
  • Yes, thank you.
  • Hi Jack,
Thanks so much! Very interesting to see what it is that "famous" people enjoy reading.
