If I copy and paste a book cover froma site such as Amazon or Barnes and Noble, is that in violation of copyright law?

Mary,

I believe under Fair Use provision you are able to use the cover art to promote merchandise. Amazone does not own the rights to the coverart. However, if it would make you more comfortable, contact your vendor and request a digital image file you can use for promotion.
