Standard English vs. Texting

In my district, they are adding more online courses (high school). I was asked to help determine the importance of students using Standard English rather than typical instant messaging lingo (during a classroom online chat). Does anyone know of a web page that would help explain the purpose and use of each type in a student friendly manner? It may be something we need to create, but thought I would throw it out here. Thanks.

  • Hello Becca,

I don't have a specific page that explain the purpose of each type but I am sending along an article written in the Gardian Newspaper in 2004 that shows a composition in texting format and then translated. It is an eye opener.
