    Greetings Patty,

    I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight.     I have been booktalking to reluctant readers for the last 7 years! It was one of the main responsibilities when I came. There are 3 Reading teachers in our school of 2,000 kids and they come into the library or I go to their classes with a cart of books and booktalk Mysteries, Realtistic Fiction, Historical Fiction and Mutlitcultural Fiction. I spend my summer reading lots of books so when I go back, I have new ones to add to the others I have read! The kids can't believe I have read that much--but I love it.
