  • Greetings Pam,

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight.

If possible, please visit our Facebook page and "Like" us http://www.facebook.com/SupportSchoolLibraries . Adding a positive comment and sharing with your friends would help our morale as well. The board finalizes the budget soon so your timely support would be greatly appreciated!

    Sincerely,

    Mike McQueen

  • Hi Pam,
Remember back in the day when we were early pioneers? Will you be at NECC?
  • Hi, Pam. Have you played any Guitar Hero??
  • I thoroughly enjoyed your conference on Monday in Philadelphia and was inspired to "get moving" on my blogs, wikis, and lots of things. Would like ideas on libraries of the future to help with new design team.

  • Hello Pam,

I live in a suburb of Vancouver. We have two kids and and prefer the slower pace of life outside the city but it would be my pleasure to assist you with feedback on school libraries in Canada. The situationl of teacher-librarians is critical in some eastern provinces but you should have a good reception in western Canada since Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia still have active provincial associations.

Part of my long list of responsibilities within the Canadian Association for School Libraries (CASL) is the listserv for our membership and one for the CASL executive and provincial executives so we can stay in touch. If you have some information about your presentations that you would like me to pass along please send it to me.

In many cases in Canada, teacher librarians feel that they are in survival mode but they are a dedicated, hard working group and your workshop should be the tonic they need.

    Cheers,

    Richard

  • Hello Pam,

Welcome to TeacherLibrarianNing. I am familiar with your Infosearcher blog that I have recommended to my students at university. The Teacher Librarian Network is proving to be a gathering place of dedicated teacher librarians and I look forward to your contributions.
