Hi...I am a librarian at an Elementary School....Pre-K to Grade 8....Am an undergraduate student at the local community college. Am not a qualified librarian..but love working with kids. I am so excited that I found this group/website...I am willing to learn and share my experiences. I am a bit frustrated at present, because school has just started and the teachers are not willing to give me a time on their schedules...it seems they have too much to do and don't have time for library...makes me feel so unwanted.

I'm Mike McQueen, teacher librarian and founder of http://www.GettingBoysToRead.com. Like many school districts, we are in a financial crises. Our school board recently proposed to eliminate ALL 20+ middle school teacher librarians and also cut all 90+ elementary schools to half time. Since we are the biggest district in all of Colorado, we worry this will cause other districts to follow suit. We launched an online movement and are going to do our best to put up a good fight.
