Just thought I'd share a couple recent posts from my Teach with Picture Books blog (a blog which helps teachers use picture books as instructional tools in grades 3-8). Girls Got Game features four terrific books (plus related activities and links) that celebrate women who displayed uncommon dedication and determination in physical pursuits. Science Girls: Women with Vision puts the spotlight on women in science and math.
As a lover of picture books, as a teacher, and as a dad to two daughters, I love books like these that celebrate resolute women who can serve as role models for our girls. These books are also impressive in that they hold the boys' attention as well!
