Teacher Web Sites

We are looking to create some uniformity for teacher websites for our elementary school-grades PK-5 and also request that each teacher keep an updated site.  I am wondering what products schools have used and the pros and cons.  Some of the sites are a bit "childlike" in their visuals-i.e. teacherweb.  What have you used? Thank you.

  • This isn't exactly what you were asking about, but I've got an offer for teacher websites - I run a website (Kidipede - http://www.historyforkids.org) that's an online history and science encyclopedia for 5th-8th graders.

I'd like more teachers to link to my site, and I'm offering a free subscription to Kidipede to any teacher who links to my site from their website, or any school librarian who does the same. For teachers, the free subscription covers their class; for librarians, it covers the whole school.

The subscription lasts as long as the link stays up, and enables you to see the site without any advertising.

If anyone here is talking to teachers about their websites, I'd really appreciate you mentioning this offer. I'm trying to get the word out. Or, if you have any comments about how I'm approaching this, I'd be really interested in hearing them.

    Karen
