Anyone use LibGuides??

I just subscribed to LibGuides, and because of my district's budget deadline I didn't do a whole lot of investigating beforehand. It is used by the colleges most of our students attend. Plus I have seen on some great school library websites. Any great advice on how to get started with LibGuides??

  • I just jumped into LibGuides and started creating a couple of pages though I haven't done anything very fancy. Embedding a Glogster page with a video is about elaborate as it gets so far. I did make a widget. I have to say I prefer it over my district's web page set up.

I think I could have done much the same thing with PageFlakes. LibGuides does have more capabilities, but I'm not sure if it's the best answer for me and my library. I do like the fact that it's used by our county's community college, as well as KU and Emporia State. That covers about 80 percent of our college bound students, so it's nice they will have some experience with it when they move into higher learning.
    • Sherri, let me know if I can help---I know it is a little overwhelming when you are first getting started. I think it is has a lot more horsepower than Pageflakes in the long haul---I have been using it for nearly a year and really like it (and I am also someone who uses Pageflakes and Netvibes). Let me know if you want to Skype sometime---I am glad to help and brainstorm! :-)
